More about the Home
What is the most sought after type of home in this area? One that’s “in the country”, of course! Almost every central Illinois family dreams of those wide open skies and quiet private setting where their kids can run and play and be kids and life is simpler.
Well, central Illinois, here is your chance to make that dream a reality at an incredible price! (cue cheesy salesman voice. Ha Ha Ha)
But seriously, when my husband and I were looking to buy a home, we wanted something in the country desperately, but any time a new home would come on the market outside of town we would be devastated by a much higher price than we could afford or it would be snatched up before we could see it. These country homes are a rare commodity.
So, full disclosure, 411 E. Front Street is technically on the edge of town, but when you look around in almost every direction and see farmer’s fields, you’ll feel as much in the country as anyone. Standing in the yard at the side of the house you'll first see an ancient but gorgeous garden shed and a lovely apple tree whose branches bend down with the burden of its delicious fruit.
Beyond the apple tree and shed, rolling fields, a silo, and nearby lake decorate the serene view. I haven't witnessed them for myself, but I bet the sunrises here and absolutely breathtaking.
But, being a country home on the edge of town isn’t the only feature it boasts of! The sprawling yard is an absolutely lovely piece of land. Just picture it: a father and son have room to toss the baseball around and bond over the great American sport. Or, an amazingly beautiful garden with every delicious vegetable, fruit, and flower growing out of it. Or, picture a Sunday picnic with all your closest friends. A volleyball net is set up on one end while everyone enjoys a delicious meal out in the warm summer air in your huge yard.
An interesting thing about the yard is that it’s actually several separate lots, which means you could build on one if you’d like.
How about the interior of the house, though? This is where you’ll spend most of your time at home so it’s important that it fits your needs and is comfortable. Well, 411 E. Front has some awesome interior features as well as loads of potential.
That’s right, I said the “P” word: the one that normally means the house is in a shambles but I try to make it sound nicer by saying it has “potential”. Well, let’s get that image out of your head, because, really, this house is move in ready as far as functionality goes. Sure, the decor and finishes could use some updating, but that’s why you get it at an incredible price! Trust me, it would not take much to turn this house into a gorgeous modern farmhouse; one that Joanna Gaines would be proud of.
The living room has this incredible brick fireplace and massive picture window that goes almost all the way to the floor. This would be the place of story book Christmases: the family gathered around, laughing and enjoying each other, a warm fire glowing in the fireplace, and the most beautiful tree standing proud in the corner all make this place a true “home” while the snow falls silently outside that big picture window.
Ok, but what about the other 364 days of the year. What does this home offer for those? How about an eat in kitchen? It may be a bit on the small side, but it wouldn’t take much to open up one wall into the living room to make an amazing wide open floor plan. Then, you could put in a big kitchen island with a breakfast bar and never miss a moment while baking or cooking.
Past the kitchen there is an awesome family room perfect for a more casual setting such as family game night or watching a movie together. The current owners say this is where they spent the majority of their time and they loved it. It has big windows on both sides of the room to let in lovely light at any time of the day.
Now for the pièce de résistance: as you step outside of the family room you come onto a front porch that is like something from a movie. A couple of rocking chairs look out towards a view that can only be described as complete tranquility. Sitting there you can see fields rolling out in front of you and even a slice of water from a nearby lake glistening in the sun.
I could sit there for hours with a good book and cup of iced tea….
Coming back to reality, though, let’s look at some of the other amenities this house has to offer.
You get four bedrooms in this beauty: two on the main floor and two on the second story. Do note, though that one of the main floor bedrooms was in the beginning stages of being transformed into a massive main floor laundry room. It already has the hook-up and doesn’t need much to finish the project.
The second floor bedrooms are HUGE!
Speaking of huge, do you know how big of a pain it is to drive two vehicles but only a one car garage? A huge one. Do you know how great of a benefit it is to have a two car garage in these parts and in an old farmhouse no less? A huge one!
That’s right! 411 E. Front St. has a nice big two car garage that you are going to love!
So if it’s country living you are after for a bargain price, stop your home search NOW! Come see 411 E. Front and take in all it has to offer for yourself.
